Terms

The rules for using Bottled Note and this website, in plain words.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. Who and what

These terms apply between you and Julius Hochholdinger, Switzerland (“we”), for the Bottled Note app on iPhone, iPad and Mac and for this website. They are the licence agreement for the app. Apple is not a party to them, and only we are responsible for the app, within the limits below. Apple’s standard licence terms apply in addition where these terms say nothing.

2. The beta through TestFlight

Until Bottled Note is in the App Store, you can test a pre-release version free of charge through Apple’s TestFlight. The beta is offered as it is: it can contain errors, lose or damage data, and change or stop at any time. Each beta build runs for at most 90 days, and we may end the beta whenever we choose. Please keep a backup of anything that matters. Apple’s TestFlight terms apply to your use of TestFlight. Testing the beta gives you no right to the App Store version for free or at a particular price; your 60 days in section 3 start only with the App Store version. The prices on this website are planned prices and can still change.

3. Your licence

When you install Bottled Note, you may use it for 60 days free of charge. After that, you need to buy it once to keep using it. Without a purchase, the app no longer opens; your notes stay as files in your folder. With the purchase you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on the Apple devices you own or control, including Family Sharing as offered by the App Store. You may not copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law allows. The licence covers the version you buy and any updates we choose to release. We do not promise future updates, or that the app will keep working with future versions of iOS, iPadOS or macOS.

4. Purchase, prices and refunds

You buy Bottled Note through the App Store. Apple handles payment, taxes and refunds under its own terms. The lower price in the first week and the price for pupils and students are offers from us; the student price is based on your own statement and we do not check it.

5. Your notes are your responsibility

Your notes, PDFs and drawings are files on your devices or in your iCloud Drive. We have no copy of them and cannot restore them. Please keep backups of anything that matters to you, for example with Time Machine or iCloud. You are responsible for what you write, import and share, and for having the rights to the PDFs and other material you use.

6. AI is optional and can be wrong

AI features are optional. Answers, questions and explanations made by AI can be incomplete or wrong, so check anything important, especially before an exam or in legal, medical or financial matters. Bottled Note is a tool for learning and note-taking, not professional advice. If you use your own key with an AI provider, you are their customer: their terms, prices and privacy policy apply, and you pay them directly. We are not responsible for their services, their availability or their costs.

7. No guarantee

We build Bottled Note with care, but we provide the app and this website as they are and as available. To the extent the law allows, we give no guarantee that the app will be free of errors, work without interruption, suit a particular purpose or keep every feature in future versions. Features, prices and the website can change.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for slight negligence, for indirect or consequential damage, for lost data, lost profit or missed exams and deadlines, or for damage caused by third parties such as Apple, iCloud or AI providers. In any case our total liability is limited to the price you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or under mandatory product liability law, and nothing limits your mandatory rights as a consumer.

9. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

These terms and all use of the app and this website are governed by Swiss law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the rules of private international law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Meikirch, Switzerland. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may also bring a claim in the courts there where that law gives you the right to do so.

10. Final provisions

If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest stays in force, and the invalid part is replaced by the valid rule that comes closest to its purpose. We may update these terms for future versions; the version that was in force when you bought the app applies to your purchase. Questions: hello@bottlednote.com.
